MI Casita Mexican Restaurant in San Juan Island

Great service the moment I walked through the door was not the only pleasent surprise I found at Mi Casita Mexican Restaurant. The menu included the usual Mexican platters, so I chose to try the Burrito Fajitas with steak.The first thing that hit me when it was brought out is the massive size. This is easily two meals worth of flavorful steak, peppers, onions, rice, and beans. Having had a number of less than enjoyable Mexican meals at various restaurants in the North Sound, I wasn't expecting much... But they sure did deliver much! A hint of spicy combined with a great grilled fajita flavor made this an enjoyable entree.

The recipes need to be changed for the chicken enchilada. (I'd suggest as a minimum using Las Palmas). The spanish rice needs more tomato sauce in the boil. Soak the beans longer prior to cooking. Growing up with a Hispanic background and exposed to other Mexican food establishments, this place ranks low. The scent of the food should hit you as you walk in the door. It didn't happen.

Some of the best I have had in a very long time. Chimichanga was so good. I don’t care for red rice and here OMG. It was so good. Black beans... really. You just don’t see that. It was so amazing.

After hearing the waitress apologize for making my Margarita too strong, she said " maybe I need more Theraflu" I took a few sips, about an inch. I asked if we could add some mix , it was terrible. I didn't drink it.I usually tip well, but when she charged me for it, after buying dinner and dessert, I left an extra .65 cents.Maybe get some more Thera flu with it.

My experience was decent, It was quite difficult to get the attention of someone to seat us. That is the most important thing to me when entering an establishment, acknowledge everyone coming in giving you business. The ordering and prompt meal made up for the 8 minutes waving to someone in kitchen to find a cashier. The food was decent, the atmosphere is great.

Great food, reasonable prices, full bar and very friendly staff. The margaritas and the atmosphere are the main reason to visit, but the food will keep you coming back. Large portions and consistently great flavor. Don't let it's location in a hotel fool you, this is an island staple!

While I understand that different regions have their own take on cultural dishes, this was the worst excuse for Mexican food that I have ever had. The “Ranchero” sauce tasted like canned tomato paste and way to much chili powder. I love spice and hot dishes. There was no heat or spice in any of the dishes. Just a foul taste. The fajitas were described as tender cuts of beef marinated in “Secret Sauce”. Well whatever the secret sauce maybe, you might as well try again. Drinks were on point, food definitely was not! Service was good.

Food is consistently good. Priced Right for a family meal out. Love the staff.

Not bad but typical Mexican food (as americanized), smothered. I hear the burgers are v good.

It's ok, big portions with ok food but you are on a island in the San Juans so not expecting gray Mexican food

I love their food, I'm just not sure about their hours. I think they're not open on Sunday, not sure about Saturday.

We have gone here 100's of times throughout the yrs & the service is always fantastic & so is the food. Highly recommended 👍

Exellent healthy and large portions

Atmosphere is very comfortable, employees pleasant and accommodating. The food is delicious and you should not be leaving hungry!

Compared to other Mexican restaurants, I found the food to be a bit bland. I was also very surprised to see them charging rather high prices for things like extra mole sauce ($3.50), sour cream ($1.00), and cilantro ($1.00). Service was good but a rather large spider dropped onto the seat next to my daughter.

Our experience was pretty mediocre. Food was typical basic Mexican food. Service was friendly but almost nonexistent. Took forever to order. Forever for food to come. No one checked on us or refilled water. Took forever to get check. Forever to pay the check.

This place was great across the board. Weekend in Friday Harbor and this was by far the best place we've been. Do yourself a favor and try the fajita burrito!
